math 2020

Hi for this week for math we did place value on x tables

This week we have been learning place value on times-tables!

Say there's a teacher and the teacher asks you a question

"9 x 73"

You say, "I don’t no"

Well I will tell you how to work this out fast. The first thing you do is 9 x 70 = 630. I knew that straight away because I did 9 x 7 which = 63 and then I added a 0 at the end that = 630. Then I did 9 x 3 which = 27. After that all you just do is 630 + 27 = 657, so the answer is 657. This technique is called place value.
thank you for reading my blog bye :)

what grade are you?

letter to my past-self

For writing, we had to make a letter to our future self.

May/19/2020

Dear Julian,

Remember that time where there was that lock-down in 2020.
You were so excited at first but it started to feel weird. We were the best
country in the whole world for the best cases. Oh anyway. The past you were
so bored and did nothing. Remember when you put the teddy on your window.
You got it when you were 3 years old. There was 7 weeks no school! Did you
forget that there were so many people who died  :( .  In lock-down do you
remember when your dad bought the wood for the fence in level 2.

You had to do home school and do Google meets.  You could not have takeaways
till level 2. But we did not have any takeaways because your mum made so
much good food.  You could not do anything fun just because of lock-down.
You made a little birdhouse for the big tree in our front yard. We painted it
a similar color to the bricks of our house that we live in.  The second to last
day your mum said that on Monday there was school I sad but excited.

Questions for past self.
Do you still like cats more than dogs?
Do you have children?
Are you still chubby?

Yours Sincerely

from Julian

What is something fun you did in lock-down?

math follow-up

38.8 - 29.9 =
The first thing you do if it is subtraction, you add 0.1 to the
29.9 to make it a tidy number then you have to add 0.1 to 38.8
because you added 0.1 to 29.9. So now it will look like this

 39.0 + 29.7 =

39.0 + 29.7 = 32.3. But if it’s addition you add 0.2 to the 38.8
and subtract 0.2 from the 29.9 so now it looks like this
____________________________________________________________

29.5 + 10.5=
(This one is similar to the first one)
This addition so we add to one and subtracted to
the one. But you can’t just pick which one to add and
which one to subtract First you add 0.5 to the 29.5 to
make it 30.0. Then you subtract 0.5 from the 10.5 that = 10.0.

30.0 + 10.0 = 40.0

A movie I watched during lock down.

Howl's moving castle. (The movie)

The meaning of the movie was very difficult to under stand. Maybe the is a deeper meaning that I didn't understand.

My favorite part was when I new that they can teleport to different certain areas.

My favorite character is Calcifer (he move the hole castle with all the fire. Calcifer is the fire if you didn't know.

Howl is trying to stop the war. There were stars in the sky and howl  picked up and he swallowed it than he got the heart and the heart is Calcifer / the fire. If Calcifer die's than howl die's to, because Calcifer is howls heart. Howl can be a monster forever. Sophie the main character loves him and dose not care if he is a monster. Howl can be a monster forever if the war dose not end.
                                                                                                                     What Calcifer looks like
You should go look at the movie if you have Netflix.
It is 13+ but there is no swearing, the only reason is because the movie has a strong meaning.
